Recycle:

  • To treat or process (used or waste materials) so as to make suitable for reuse: Recycling paper to save trees.
  • To pass through a cycle again: repeat a process from the beginning.

Why Should I recycle?

Recycling is actually more important then you think. For instance a 5 foot stack of paper would save one tree, now imagine how much paper you have right now; in your class room or house, Is there enough to save a tree? Here are some other things about recycling and what it takes to to make some of the things you use every day.

  • Believe it or not but 1 aluminum tin can takes enough energy to make equivalent to powering 3 hours of Television. Now imagine all the tin cans you have in your house right now, how much television could you watch with all that!?!
  • 70% less energy is required to reuse recycled paper compared with making it from raw materials.
  • It takes about 95% less power to turn in a can and reuse it for a new can then to make one from scratch.
  • Great for the economy
  • Protects wildlife and prevents global warning.

Okay you probably know by know that recycling saves a lot of energy but it doesn't just do that!
      • If every American recycled his or her trash just once a week would save about 36million trees a year!
      • Recycling saves the air and the water.
      • It helps conserve landfill space for things that are not recyclable.
      • Of course it saves trees!

Using reusable containers and other things.

You can do a lot more than just storing leftovers in Tupperware then you think. Using those containers for more than one purpose can really help the environment! The truth is they can be used for anything if you have an imagination! Some things you could use those containers for are right here!

  • You can use tupperware as decorations and fill them with rocks or use them as flower pots or vases.
  • Take your own reusable containers to restaurants and use them for holding leftovers, very few "doggybags" are recycleable.
  • Refill liquid containers, get a metal waterbottle such as Sigg.
  • Use butter containers, yogurt containers, and anything else to make crafts and for holding food or lunch.
